The institute runs two programs:
- B.Ed. (Bachelor in Education) program—It is a two-year course under Gauhati University. Admission is done as per NCTE norms. Candidates who have passed Bachelor’s degree under 10+2=3 pattern, or Master’s, in Arts, Science or Commerce securing 50% and above for General Caste, and 45% and above for SC, ST, OBC/MOBC are considered eligible for admission to B.Ed. course. They have to clear the GUBEDCET (entrance test) conducted by Gauhati University every year. Once they clear it, they can apply for admission in the relevant colleges. Candidates are then selected for admission on completely merit basis. However, such norms are relaxed for in-service teachers deputed by the Govt. of Assam for admissions into the B.Ed. program. It is, however, worth mentioning that seats for fresh candidates are made available only if they remain vacant after admission of the deputed teachers.
- D.El.Ed. (Diploma in Elementary Education) program—It is a two-year course consisting of four semesters conducted under SCERT, Assam. Candidates who have passed their HS or Bachelor’s or Master’s are eligible for admissions into the D.El.Ed. program. They also have to clear the PET (Pre-entry test) conducted by SCERT, Assam, every year. Once they clear, they can apply for admissions in the relevant colleges as per counselling undertaken by SCERT, Assam.
